Yi 4K – Shooting test on road bike

I bought Yi 4K and tested some settings on it.
I explored [ the best setting for the quality to play 1080p on Youtube ]
My microSD is Samsung 64GB EVOPlus Class10 UHS-I U3.
My mount is TrustFire GoPro Bike Mount. This is Garmin/bryton cycle computer mount with GoPro mount.

I think it has a bit too much image noise. I am going to change resolution higher to decrease the noise. By the way, I have known its microphone is bad for windy situation like riding a bicycle, but it doesn’t have a terminal to connect an external microphone.

Image noise considerably decreased. Maybe even if watching by 1080p on Youtube, uploading by 2.7K has advantages about quality. Next, for low spec computers and make bitrate lower to shoot longer, I am going to change FPS 60 to 30. I am also going to test “Adjust Lens Distortion” OFF, I guess it may incompatible with “Electronic Image Stabilization”.

Any shapes on this video does not look so strange, so I think “Adjust Lens Distortion” is not necessary. But 30 FPS is not good for image quality especially in dark place. But I was surprised that video quality is really high, even though I shoot without any gimbal and I did not add any effects on PC.

Next, I am going to re-try 60 FPS. I change “Video Quality” medium to shoot longer. Also I bought 128GB microSD ( officially not supported ) and Shock-Absorber on AliExpress. My 128GB microSD is Samsung 128GB EVOPlus Class10 UHS-I U3.

But! This absorber never stop strong vibration. It is impossible to shoot. I guess it is bad for riding a bicycle. I waited 3 weeks for the shipment from China …
Well, I am going to re-try without this one.

I shoot in the daytime. This camera is good for bright place. During fine weather, quality is really high. But latter half on the video, quality got lower with cloudy weather. I was not able to find big differences between “Video Quality” high and medium. 128GB microSD occurred no problem on shooting. Temperature was from 10°C ( 50°F ) to 18°C ( 64°F ). File size on Windows was 115.95GB. I do not know why but it was 124.5GB on Mac.

Yi 4K separates files each 4GB. Also on long ride, I got some breaks and stopped shooting during having breaks. I use Avidemux to combine them. 115.95GB video has no problem playing on PC. But Youtube occurred a problem after uploading. After cutting last a few frames by Avidemux, this problem solved. I do not care about this problem, because it is a rarely problem and easy to be solved.
